These five-day examples show how to think about transport. They are not complete itineraries.

Example 01 · one central base

Start with a
car-free plan.

For a stay focused on central Larnaca, first compare walking, buses and occasional taxis. A rental for the whole stay may add little value.

This example assumes

  • Your accommodation is near the places you want to visit.
  • Your arrival and departure fit a checked bus or taxi option.
  • Walking distances, heat and access needs suit your group.

If one of these changes, revisit the plan.

Why start here?

The airport's official transport guide lists bus and taxi services. Compare them before committing to a rental.

The accommodation location and actual distances still matter. “Larnaca” alone does not tell you whether a stay is practical without a car.

What would change the answer?

  • Several village or mountain stops become part of the trip.
  • Your accommodation or arrival time makes public transport impractical.
  • You need frequent door-to-door travel. Compare accessible options directly.

Your next check: confirm the airport journey in both directions, the last service, your exact stops and the walk to your accommodation.

Consider a car
for the rural leg.

Separate city time from the village and mountain days. Compare a shorter rental with a driver, a tour or dated bus connections before choosing.

This example assumes

  • You want to combine several stops beyond the city.
  • You have not yet checked the exact village connections.
  • The Paphos journey and vehicle return need a separate decision.

Why split the trip?

Fewer rental days are worth comparing, but do not automatically cost less once pickup, return and transfer charges are included.

Rural buses serve parts of the region, including a Limassol–Troodos route. Intercity services include Larnaca–Paphos. Neither proves a workable connection for this whole example.

When to choose an alternative

  • You are not comfortable driving on the left.
  • A checked bus connection covers every stop and return time.
  • A driver or tour fits your route and total budget better.
  • Weather, roads or rental restrictions make the mountain leg unsuitable.

Pause before self-driving: Cyprus drives on the left. Check your licence, rental eligibility, route restrictions and current road conditions. If uncomfortable, compare a driver, tour or bus plan.
